My Story:

Granetta is a Certified Food For Life Instructor by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.  She brings over ten years of teaching experience to her classes.  In her thirties she attempted a vegetarian diet several times, but didn't know what to eat.  After that she slowly moved away from an unhealthy diet and toward healthy foods, particularly to combat weight gain. In 2011, she again tried a vegetarian diet and progressed to a plant-based diet in 2012.  Thankfully a family member was also "going vegan" at the same time, and supported her changes.  She has happily lost over 20 pounds and her cholesterol is at healthy levels.

Along this journey she has read numerous books on living on plants and prepared hundreds of vegan recipes.    Now, Granetta is driven to help other people make healthy changes!

Her plant-powered life includes raising her school age daughter and living an active lifestyle including hooping, biking, running and walking around DC.

About this Event

The novel Coronavirus has been diagnosed in millions Americans. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has advised that people with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, coronary heart disease, chronic lung disease, hypertension and obesity are among those at greater risk to have severe outcomes from this disease.

This special Food For Life series is Cooking to Combat Covid-19 and has been designed to empower people to address underlying conditions - obesity, diabetes and hypertension - that make people most vulnerable to the severest consequences of COVID-19. This series will be held online and includes fun cooking demonstrations of recipes that are delicious and use commonly found ingredients. Each class also includes information about the health-promoting benefits of plant-based diets, which have been scientifically-proven to prevent and reverse many of the underlying health conditions that are so concerning at this time.

These classes will have lots to support to help you make changes: meal plans, grocery lists, supportive community, and a place to have your questions answered. Each class will cover a different topic from natural appetite control, breaking the food seduction, food & mood, and immunity boosting foods.
