ABOUT US:

Tyndale has undergone a number of iterations and name changes over the course of its 125 years of history. It’s humble beginnings originated in 1894 as a Bible Training School in the Toronto area with 138 students hailing from eight different denominations. Today, over 40 denominations and more than 60 ethnic backgrounds represented among the student body in one of the most diverse cities in the world. As Tyndale grew, so did the vision to seek appropriate accreditation enabling students to carry out their God-inspired purpose. Tyndale is dedicated to the pursuit of truth; to excellence in teaching, learning and research, for the enriching of the mind, heart and character; and to serving the church and the world for the glory of God.

Tyndale University’s undergraduate education, rooted in the humanities, arts and sciences, seeks to deepen knowledge, cultivate wisdom and develop character to serve Christ and the world. In 2003, after completing a review by the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) and upon approval from the Ministry of Colleges & Universities, Tyndale began to offer a provincially-recognized Bachelor of Arts degree. Most recently in 2020, Ontario’s Ministry of Colleges & Universities (MCU) gave consent to change our name to Tyndale University. This was an affirmation of the quality of programs offered by Tyndale and our capacity to continue to develop new programs that meet or exceed the Ministry’s standards.

As a recognized degree-granting institution, Tyndale grants Bachelor of Arts degrees, including Honours degrees in the arts, business administration and social sciences, under authority granted by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

About this Event:

Passions of the Enneagram

Each Enneagram type has a specific “passion” or emotion that shapes how it expresses itself when we are stressed and tighten against life. The passion is our heart's response and automatically and rigidly governs how we are in the situation at hand, more than we could ever imagine. Becoming aware of how this happens and working to slow down and relax the automaticness helps us access the virtue of our type more easily. Gradually we can grow into our gifts, the parts of the Divine that can be in the world through us.

Learning Objectives:

- To understand how the 9 specific passions (anger, pride, deceit, envy, avarice, fear, gluttony, lust, sloth) are experienced by the 9 types and grow in compassion for ourselves and others

- To improve your ability to notice your passion and the suffering it causes

- To have a deeper sense of the virtue of your type (serenity, humility, veracity, equanimity, non-attachment, courage, sobriety, innocence, right action.)
