SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND LANGUAGES The School of Social Sciences and Languages was formed as a separate school in the year 2009 and it is one of the most acclaimed Humanities / Social Sciences schools in India. The prime focus of the school is to impart futuristic and supportive education to students-education in subjects like Commerce, Economics, Ethics and values, Psychology, Sociology, History and Music. The school is a great learning centre of Indian and foreign languages like, English, French, German, Japanese, Arabic, Russian and Chinese. The teaching and research of the school is broadly structured around four departments: Commerce, Social Sciences, English, and Other Languages. The school provides a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment that facilitates teaching and research in Social Sciences and Languages. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE The Department of Commerce is one of the four departments in the School of Social Sciences and Languages, VIT University, Vellore. It has 15 faculty members, who are highly qualified with rich experience in teaching and research. Apart from offering Ph.D programmes, the Department offers B.Com and adopts an innovative teaching-learning process called Curriculum for Applied Learning (CAL), as per changing requirements of the students and the industries as well. The Department of Commerce equips the students with required Communication and Computer skills through rigorous internship in order to increase employability.
